Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment

A successful specialized meeting on cooperation in the semiconductor industry was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on September 27, 2023. This event was jointly organized by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment, VinaCapital Group and Southeast-Asia Impact Alliance (SIA).

The meeting drew the participation from key delegates, including Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi; Mr. Chen Liang-Gee, former Minister of Science and Technology of Taiwan; Mr. Don Lam, CEO of VinaCapital Group, as well as representatives from various departments of Hanoi, the High-Tech Industrial Park Management Board, several technology universities (such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, University of Business and Technology, FPT University, Vietnam National University, and more), multiple banks, representatives from technology companies, and notably, a delegation from leading semiconductor enterprises in Taiwan. This dialogue provided an opportunity to share information about the semiconductor industry, helping foreign businesses gain a deeper understanding of Hanoi’s potential and opportunities in this sector.

The meeting commenced with the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment introducing Hanoi and the investment and business environment within the city. Subsequently, the Taiwanese representatives shared insights into the global trends in the semiconductor industry, particularly in Taiwan. The discussion then focused on the current status and potential for training high-quality talent for the semiconductor industry. The meeting also emphasized cooperation and investment opportunities in the semiconductor industry within Hanoi’s High-Tech Industrial Park.
Lively discussions on related issues took place in the final part of the meeting. The meeting concluded with a gift exchange between Mr. Chen Liang-Gee and Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen.
